How Much CBD to Take

How much CBD oil to take? I often hear this question from those who are new to taking CBD or are planning to use it for certain health conditions. I must admit that I also asked myself this question once because I was too afraid that I might get it wrong.

So, yes, I understand how hard it is to look for answers to this question. I am here to help, so let’s get started.

The amount of CBD to take may depend on various factors. Among the things that make CBD oil dosage challenging is the products’ different sizes and potency. The size of a tincture can be between 15ml to 30ml. Meanwhile, the potency can range from 1000mg to 5000 mg.

The users’ weight is another factor. The best dosage for someone who weighs 125lb is different from someone who weighs 240lb. In addition, the person’s health condition is something worth considering to get the proper dosage and achieve the desired results.

To give you a concrete overview, here are the various factors that determine how much CBD you should take.

Patient Profile – CBD is not exclusive to humans, you can also use it for your furbabies. If you have a pet dog, cat or horse, I’m pleased to tell you that CBD oils and tinctures work on them, too.

Purpose of Use – CBD offers relief for different health conditions for humans, cats, dogs and horses. You can use this for inflammation, epilepsy, depression, high blood pressure, insomnia, migraine, Alzheimer’s Disease and more.

For your furry babies, you can use CBD for anxiety, arthritis, cancer, behavioral disorders, and seizures. For horses, CBD can be used for chronic pain, ulcers, anxiety or to prepare them for a race or performance.

Body Weight – The weight of the patient is also very important in getting the right CBD dosage for you and your pet. So, never skipped this part.

Severity – The severity of the condition is another factor that has to be considered in determining how much CBD to take. If your condition is light, you will likely be recommended to take a lower dose, but if your condition is severe a higher dosage is likely to be suggested.

Most calculators use the aforementioned information to determine the best CBD dosage. However, aside from those things, some CBD calculators may ask for additional information like the size of your CBD oil bottle and its strength or concentration. Thus, the need to calculate the CBD content of your bottle.

How to Calculate CBD Content

Although not all calculators ask for the CBD content of the CBD bottle you are using, I believe it will be helpful if you know how to calculate this. In this section, I’ll be teaching you how to do that.

? Use the formula:

[Total CBD in Bottle] ÷ [Number of Milliliters in Bottle] = MGs of CBD in a Dropper

For example, if you have a 30ml bottle of CBD tincture that has 1500MG of CBD, then our calculation will be as follow:

1500mg ÷ 30ml = 50mg of CBD per dropper

If your proper dosage of CBD is 25mg and a single dropper of the 1500mg contains 50mg, then just simply fill the dropper halfway.

? Here’s another example:

A typical bottle of CBD oil has a total of 1 fluid oz (30ml) with a CBD content of 300mg. To make things easy, you can convert the total volume (1 fluid oz) into milligrams just like the CBD. One fluid oz is equal to approximately 28,000mg.

300 mg CBD / 28,000 mg total volume of liquid in bottle = 0.01

Get the percent by multiplying the result above by 100, so the product contains 1% CBD. Serving size of a CBD tincture that is one dropper-full (not a single drop) is 1ml.

Different CBD products will have different serving sizes, so you should carefully read the label.

However, please take note that there are no official industry standards when it comes to calculating the total CBD of a cannabis product, so different manufacturers and testing facilities calculate this in various ways.

It is important that as CBD oil consumer you take the initiative to know the precise value of the content of the product you are using, the route of administration and the method of consumption.

The process may take a bit of trial and error. But once you have an idea of how strong the CBD you have is, then it is better if you start small and gradually make your way up to higher doses.

The good thing about being aware of the right dosage for your or your pet is that you are nearer to experiencing the therapeutic benefits of CBD oil without worrying if you are taking too much or not to experience the promised results.
